| history | Born in Chicago, Keith Anden Achepohl was a prominent printmaker, painter, and educator. He graduated from Knox College in 1956 and earned his M.F.A. in printmaking in 1960 from the University of Iowa, studying under Mauricio Lasansky. Achepohl's teaching career included positions at the University of Iowa, Pacific Lutheran University, and a return to the University of Iowa in 1972, where he became a full professor in 1978. Achepohl's artistic contributions extended globally, with exhibitions, lectures, and prestigious awards, including Fulbright Fellowships in Egypt (1977) and Turkey (1984), a Tiffany Foundation Award (1966), and the Gold Medal in Printmaking at the Mediterranean Biennale in Egypt (1982). His works are housed in esteemed museums worldwide, such as the Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and more.
