Brimmer was a collector and first president of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Sarah Wyman Whitman was a Boston painter and patron of the arts, born in Baltimore in 1842. She died in Boston in 1904.
According to The Art Treasures of America, Brimmer owned works by J. Constable, J. S. Copley, N. Diaz, Agnolo Di. Donnino, F. Duveneck, J. L. Hamon, W. M. Hunt, H. Leroux, G. Michel, J. F. Millet, Gilbert Stuart, and F. Zuccarelli. |
