historical notes Thoedore M. Davis was an art collector, financier, lawyer and one of the key figures in the history of archaeological exploration in the Valley of the Kings.

Davis lent art work to the Hudson-Fulton Celebration in 1909, Ferdinand Bol "Portrait of a Lady" now in the MMA, NY, Jan van der Heyden's "Street in Delft," Aert van der Neer's "Sunset," and Rembrandt's "The Sibyl."
