CommentaryOn Pieter van der Keer and Tanneken Burt, see also the TEXT of R 506. Among the debts due to the estate: Pieter van Hagen tot Dort, f 3: 7:--; Jacobus Barra, f 24:--:--; Laurens Roeloffs tot Deventer, f 9:1:--; Jan Tiel, f 13:--:--; Pieter Henricxsz., f 40:--:--; Bennoot (?), f 40:--:--; Jan Evertsz. (Cloppenburg) (of R 29002 of Montias2), f 656:--:--; Michiel Colyn (of R 22124 of Montias2), f 60:--:--; Henric Lourens (Laurentius), f 6:--:--. Pieter van Hagen married Anna Ruts, the daughter of Nicolaes Ruts and Anna van Aperlo in 1632 (he was living in Den Bosch and not in Dordrecht at the time of his marriage); Jacob Barra was a doctor in medicine; Jan Tiel (or Thiel), who was probably a print dealer, is likely to be the buyer of R 23259 of Montias2. Herman Allertsz. (or Albertsz) was the sexton (coster) of the Nieuwe Kerck. He was also a publisher of engravings and maps. He paid a tax of 10 f. in 1631 (Kohier, fol. 8, p. 3). On a document concerning the auctioning of maps in which Allertsz. was involved, see the NOTES to R 28053 of Montias2. On 16 July 1637, he was said to be the unique heir of Johannes Dyckhovius, predikant in Hensbroeck and Opdam (NA 521, Not. Westfrisius). Pieter van der Keer was the brother of Colette van der Keer (or Kere), the wife of the publisher Jodocus Hondius. After the death of her husband, she continued to be active in the publishing trade. On 8 November 1619, Colletteken van den Kere, widow of Jodocus Hondius, book- and print-dealer, on one side, and Hendrick Stier, in the name and on account of Joris Hombel, English merchant living in London, England, on the other, signed a contract whereby Hombel agreed to sell to Colletteken van de Keere 190 printed books of the sier (charms, beautiful views) of England in the Latin language, which were begun by the afore-said Colleteken, each book for 14 f., amounting in whole to 2,660 f. Stier would not be allowed to reprint the book in Latin for 7 years (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.G.P., 78(1933), pp. 344-5). Hendrick Stier(s) was a merchant who occasionally dealt in paintings (Montias, Artists and Artisans in Delft, p.83).
