BuyerIsack Haeck [(crossed out: Claes Hendricksz. den Otter]
Buyer NotesOn the buyer, Isack Haeck, see see R 21211. The only known Claes den Otter, who was apparently the underbidder, was the son of Floris den Otter, not of Hendrick. He was 24 when, on 3 April 1598, living on the Kalverstraet, he was betrothed to Cornelia Stuivers, from Haarlem, 25. He was assisted by his brother Oeffer (Olphert) den Otter (1570-1621), she by her sister Ermgen (Ermgart) Stuivers (DTB 665/23). Ermgart den Otter married Hillebrant den Otter of R 28004. Claes den Otter's son Dirck was at most 8 years old when he bought lots for 1 f. 16 st. in the Haarlem lottery (GAA, 114/76 F 840.) Niclaes den Otter freighted 5 ships between 1591 and 1602 (IJzerman, Economisch Historisch Jaarboek, 17 (1931), p. 270). Cornelia Stuivers was also the sister of Jan Stuyver (of R 30120), heer van 's-Gravenambacht, who married Baerte den Otter (1570-1621) on 17 December 1592 (information supplied by S.A.C. Dudok van Heel.) Claes den Otter was buried in the O.K. on 1 February 1620 (DTB 1044/54).
