Jane was a collector of modern art and philanthropist (New York times, Oct. 19, 2004). She was born Jane Bernstein in 1924, grew up in Baltimore, and married Robert Meyerhoff in 1945. She and her husband, Robert, collected post-World War II art and included work by, among others, Josef Albers, William Baziotes, Mel Bochner, Anthony Caro, Joseph Cornell, Burgoyne Diller, Jean Dubuffet, Eric Fischl, Grace Hartigan, Howard Hodgkin, Hans Hofmann, Jasper Johns, Barnett Newman, Agnes Martin, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Ad Reinhardt, David Salle, Joel Shapiro, Frank Stella, Clyfford Still, Bradley Walker Tomlin, Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Richard Serra,Robert Rauschenberg, and Ellsworth Kelly. |
