Barbara G. Fleischman is a collector, art dealer, and philanthropist who together with her husband, Lawrence Arthur Fleischman (1925-1997), formed a collection of ancient Greek and Roman art. The Fleischman’s also collected American art and their collection included work by, among others, Copley, Bierstadt, Church, the Hudson River School, Homer, Ryder, Eakins, Burchfield, Marin, Shahn, and Max Ernst. Fleischman has served on the board and supported numerous cultural institutions including The Archives of American Art, The Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Julliard School, British Museum, The Detroit Institute of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, New York Public Library, the American Craft Council, and the Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Television and Radio, WNET, and the J. Paul Getty Museum. |
