history Henry Corbin Lawrence was an art collector and the governor of the New York Stock Exchange.

With his wife, Lucy Ryerson Lawrence, he collected Gothic, Medieval and Ancient Art, their collection included early painted glass, tapestries, and wood carvings.

Lawrence married Lucy Ryerson (1861-1920), a descendent of Martin Ryerson, in 1882. They had two children: Ms. Lucy Lawrence Hutchinson and Mrs. Gladys Lawrence Hubbard.

Lawrence was a member of the Century Association, the National Art Club, the City Club, and he was a member of the Municipal Art Commission of the City of New York.
