John C. Wise was a textile dealer and collector who, together with his his wife, Nora, collected Ancient American Art, specializing in Pre-Columbian. In 1975, they established the Nora and John Wise collection of South American pre-Columbian art at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts. He also donated fine art to the Cleveland Museum, the Brooklyn Museum and the Metropolitan Museum. Mr. Wise owned the John Wise Ltd. Galleries at 15 East 69th Street in the Hotel Westbury. |
