history Collector of the decorative arts, Ruth Livingston Mills was the wife of Ogden Mills (1856-1929) in addition to being a member of the Livingston family, prominent landowners in the Hudson Valley since the seventeenth century. She was one of twin daughters of Maturin Livingston.

Mills bought 18th-century French furniture and objets d'art for her residences on the Rue de Varenne in Paris, Manhattan,Staatsburg (NY), Newport, and Millbrae (CA).
