Art collector, businessman and son of lumber magnate T B Walker. Gilbert married Susan M. Rogers (ca. 1866-1951) in 1887. She was born in Carlinville, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Rogers, came with her family to Minnesota, and attended Hamline University until her marriage to Gilbert. Gilbert and Susan had no children. Mrs. Gilbert Walker donated work to the Walker Center in the 1940's. The gift comprised of art works of renowned contemporary artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore and Alberto Giacometti. |
