Collector, banker and president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He succeeded his father, John Work Garrett (1820-1884) who was president form 1859-1880, as president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1887. Garrett purchased the James L. Claghorn collection of prints, in 1885 (New York Times, 4/11/1885). |
