John Codman was an art collector and shipper from Boston. In 1781, he married Margaret Russell, the daughter of the Honorable James and Katherine Graves Russell. Codman was a charter member of the Massachusetts Society for Promoting Agriculture (1792), the Society for the Information and Advice of Immigrants (1793), and the Boston Chamber of Commerce (1794). Due to his service in the House of Representatives and Senate, he was known as "The honorable John Codman." |
