history Aaron Augustus Healy, Jr. was an art collector and leather merchant. Healy’s father Aaron Augustus, Sr., 1814-1896, was also an art collector.

Healy was a partner in the firm A. Olivotti & Co, dealers of Italian Antiquities, and President of the Board of Trustees of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences (served on the board for 25 years).

During his lifetime, Healy gave 37 works of art to the Brooklyn Institute of Art and left them a choice of 20 paintings from his estate. Healy's collection included work by, among others, John Henry Twachtman, Peter Paul Rubens, William Maris, Constant Troyon, Antoine Vollon, Josef Israëls, Eugéne Delacroix, and Juliet Thompson.

Healy was married twice: in 1875, he married Miss Elizabeth Bradley (d. 1912) of Washington D.C.; and in 1915 he married Marry Theodosia Currier (d. 1940). Healy was a member of the Century, Rembrandt, Hamilton, City and National Arts Clubs.
