Dr. Robert Powell Cogggins was a physician and collector of American Southern Art. Coggins' collection included work by, among others, Willie M. Chambers, Nell Choate Jones, Elliott Daingerfield, and Thomas Addison Richards. In 1989, Robert S Morris, III purchased 230 works of art from the Coggins' Collection of art and artists of the South. This purchased served as the foundation for the Morris Art Museum. |
