His collection included work by Monet, Degas, Pissarro, Picasso, Sisley, Bonnard, Renoir, Matisse, Cezanne, Gauguin, Fantin-Latour, Manet, Modigliani, Vuillard, Van Gogh, Corot, Courbet, Redon and Daumier.

Dorrance was an executive for Campbell Soup Co. (1946-), Chairman of Campbell Soup Co. Board (1962-), Director of Carter Hawley Hale Stores, Morgan Guaranty Trust Co., others. He was a trustee of Princeton University, Donor and chairman of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
