Collector, businessman, and the former chairman and president of the Hecht chain of department stores in the Washington-Baltimore area. Levi married the former Ryda Hecht and had three children: Richard Levi, of Washington; Sandra Levi Gerstung of Baltimore; and Alexander Hecht Levi of Manhattan. Mr. and Mrs. Levi donated the funds and art for the establishment of the Baltimore Museum of Art sculpture garden. They collected work by Joan Miro, Louise Nevelson, Isamu Noguchi, Jim Dine, Scott Burton, Ellsworth Kelly, Jose de Rivera and Barry Flanagan. |
