history |
Collector, business executive, and philanthropist. McCormick collected 19th century British/Victorian paintings. McCormick and his wife, Suzanne, assembled a diverse selection of American paintings before they delved into British 19th-century art in 1976. Their collection was widely exhibited and was housed at Norcross, the couple's residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Westchester County. After Mr. McCormick's death in 1988, Mrs. McCormick chose to sell this portion of the collection via Sotheby's in 1990. |
