Charles Beatty Alexander was a collector, lawyer and financier. He married the former Harriet “Hattie” Crocker (d. 1935) of Sacramento, CA; she was the daughter of Charles Crocker, the railroad magnate. The Alexander collection included English and French eighteenth century furniture, tapestries, oriental rugs, and porcelains. Alexander was a member of the State Board of Regents, trustee of Princeton University and served as president for the National Democratic Club. |
