Margaret "Peg" Blankney Sullivan Bradley was a collector of Modern art, and her collection included European and American paintings, prints, watercolors, and sculpture from the late 19th century to the early 1970s. Housed at The Milwaukee Art Museums Bradley Wing, the Mrs. Harry L. Bradley Collection includes work by Georges Braque, Maurice de Vlaminck, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Vassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Robert Adams, Jean-Paul Agosti, Josef Albers, Milton Avery, Willi Baumeister, Harry Bertoia, Max Bill, Pierre Bonnard, Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol, Jacques Villon, Vassily Kandinsky, Alex Katz, Ellsworth Kelly, Fernand Léger, and others. In 1969 Bradley offered her art collection of more than 600 works of art to the Milwaukee Art Museum, and in 1975 the family provided a challenge grant resulting in the construction of the Bradley Wing. Margaret Bradley ran a Milwaukee haute couture business Zita, Inc., established in 1941. She was married to Harry Lynde Bradley (1885-1965), the co-founder of the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation. |
