Audrey Irmas is a philanthropist and art collector based in Los Angeles. In 1983, she co-founded the Audrey and Sydney Irmas Charitable Foundation, which focuses its donations primarily on education, health, and medical research, Jewish organizations, and art museums. Irmas served on the board of trustees of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA), from 1992 to 2006; she has served as a life trustee since 2006. The Audrey Irmas Pavilion is located in Koreatown, Los Angeles, and serves as a place to hold multiple cultural and religious events. Irmas started collecting photographic self-portraits with her husband, Sydney, in the 1970s. In 1992, they donated the Audrey and Sydney Irmas Collection to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The collection, which includes works by Roy Lichtenstein, Cy Twombly, Sigmar Polke, Robert Gover, Francis Bacon, Ed Ruscha, and Annette Messager, had its debut exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Art. |
