history George R Hann collected Russian icons and objects of ecclesiastical and decorative arts, Old Masters, Medieval and Renaissance sculpture, works of art, furniture, arms and armor, textiles, tapestries and oriental carpets.

Hann was a pioneer of air transportation, lawyer, an avid art collector and a philanthropist. He owned the estate "Treetops" near Pittsburgh, in Sewickley Heights, PA.

Hann's collection was sold via Christie's in 1980 in five separate sections.
