history Artist Leo Rabkin and his wife, nee Dorothea Herz, collected fine and American folk art.

Known for whirligigs their collection also included quilts, baskets, mannequins, dummies, dolls, and pieces by anonymous carvers, and paintings by Sam Doyle, and Mose Tolliver.

A portion of the collection is part of the American Folk Art Museum’s collection in New York, and works were featured in an exhibit entitled “Folk Sculpture From the Collection of Dorothea and Leo Rabkin at the Museum of American Folk Art” in 1998.
