Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont was an art collector, son of August Belmont, and married to Alva Eskrine Smith Vanderbilt Belmont (1854–1933). Belmont collected Medieval and early Renaissance armor. Belmont was a member of the Brook, Racquet and Tennis, New York Athletic, Union, Knickerbocker, Manhattan, Metropolitan (New York City and Washington), Lawyers’, Meadow Brook, New York Yacht, Turf and Field, University, and New York Clubs. Before Oliver’s marriage to Alva he married Miss Sally Whiting, 1883, the marriage ended in divorce in 1884, and bore one child, Natica Rives Burden (1883–1908). |
