history Otto Lucien Spaeth was an industrialist, art collector, co-founder and president of the Spaeth Foundation and Vice President of Whitney Museum of American Art.

He and his wife, Eloise O. Spaeth (1902-1998) formed an art collection that include works of art by, among others, Picasso, Braque, Hopper, Lambert-Rucci, Matisse, Alexander Calder, Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Stuart Davis and Charles Sheeler.

In 1950 the Spaeth’s founded the Spaeth Foundation which was meant to support young artists.
