history Anthony (Tony) Morris Clark was an art collector, scholar, painter (traveled to Italy, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Switzerland, and England).

He served as secretary of the Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design, David E. Finley Fellow at the National Gallery of Art (1959-61), curator of Sculpture and paintings(1961-63) and the director of the Minneapolis Museum of Art (1963-73), chairman of the department of European Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1973-75), and as a professor at College of William & Mary and New York Institute of Art of New York University (1975-76).

Clark collected Italian drawings, pottery, classical coins and primitive art objects. In 1978, Clark's collection went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
