Webb was an art collector, businessman and shipbuilder. Webb's collection consisted of paintings, sculptures, and engravings and included work by Leutze, Achenbach, Carl Becker, Bosch, Ortmann, Escosura, Frere, Vibert, David Col, and Winterhalter. Webb was a member of the Union League, Republican Club, National Academy of Design, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, American Geography Society and the New England Society. |
