Captain Jacob Jay Vandergrift was an art collector and businnesman. Vandergrift was involved in oil, steel and natural gas concerns and was a stockholder of the Apollo Iron and Steel Company. Vandergrift was the founder of the United Pipe Lines, the Imperial Refining Company and the town of Vandergrift. He married Henrietta V Morrow in 1853, she died in 1881, and two years later he married Frances G. (Anshutz) Hartley. |
