Merce Cunningham was a collector, painter, and American choreographer. Cunningham was a founding member of the so-called New York Schools of Music, Painting and Poetry. Cunningham’s and John Cage’s (1912-1992) collection included work by Edward Weston, Paul Klee, Robert Rauschenberg (who they met at Black Mountain College in 1953), Jasper Johns, Frank Stella Marcel Duchamp, Joseph Albers and Andy Warhol. |
