Colonel T. W. C. Moore was an art collector who served on General Sheridan's staff during the Civil War. Moore bequeathed (1872) to the NYHS canvases by, among others, Sneyders, Diego Velazquez, Juan de Valdez, Salvator Rosa, D. Brown, Matthew Withoos, Jean François De Troy, Anthony Stevers (Palamedes), Don Juan Carrenno de Miranda, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Dominick Van Tol., Nicholas Van Gelder, and Henry Inman. |
