history Ichabod T. Williams was a lumber merchant (Ichabod T. Willams & Sons) and an art collector.

Sold at the American Art Association in 1915, the Williams' collection included paintings, etchings, Chinese and Japanese porcelains, Japanese Lacquers, Jade and Rock-crystal carvings, Japanese and Chinese metal work, Venetian glass, Old Delft, Greek terracotta’s, Hispano-Moresque Faience, majolica, furniture, plaster casts, Oriental rugs and carpets, Photographs, Carbon prints and other objects of art.

Williams owned paintings by American and European artists his collection included painting from, among others, the following artists:
George Fuller, Albert Pinkham Ryder, Johannes Bosboom, Philip de Konink, Antonio Garcia-Mecia, Jean-Francois Farjon, M. E. Cook, Frederick Dielman, J. M. Bielsfield, S. M. Gilman, Eastman Johnson, and Eva Bonnier.

Williams married Elizabeth H. Skelding in 1853 and had four children: Thomas Williams (1833-1935), Henry Knapp Skelding Williams (1859-1944), Waldron Williams (1863-1921), and Lloyd Williams (1865-1913).
