Herbert Greer French was a print collector and the Vice President of Proctor & Gamble. His collection included more than one hundred 15th century Northern European and Italian prints, more than fifty prints by Albrecht Durer, and forty prints by Rembrandt. Other artists represented in the French collection include Picasso, Daumier, Whistler, and Toulouse-Lautrec. French was became the Cincinnati Art Museum's first print curator in 1929 and donated $100,000 to build a wing with three galleries and a study center. French left 800 prints, his library, and a $250,000 endowment to the Cincinnati Art Museum. |
