history Lockwood de Forest was an artist, interior designer, furnishings importer, writer and collector. His brother was Robert Weeks De Forest (1848–1931) a collector and past president of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Lockwood de Forest was a member and served on the Board of New York’s National Academy of Design.
