Alexander Blumenstiel was an art collector, music critic and lawyer, specializing in bankruptcy law. Blumenstiel’s collection was sold at an auction in 1906 and included work by, among others, Maurice Leloir, Jean Leon Gérômes, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Theodore Rousseau, Rosa Bonheur, Jean Babtiste Robie, Paul Jean Clays, Jules Adolphe Breton, Virgile Diaz de la Pena, Martin Rico, Felix Zeim, Jean Charles Cazin, Joseph Coomans, Marie Dieterle, George Inness, and Jules Joseph Lefebvre. Blumenstiel was a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural History, the Lotos, Republican, and Criterion Clubs. |
