Lawrence J Heller was an art collector and Washington, D.C. lawyer who retired in Tucson, AZ. Heller collected European and American Modernists, including work by Marsden Hartley, Alfred H. Maurer, Karl Knaths, Lee Gatch, Arthur Dove, Abraham Rattner, William Baziotes, Jack Tworkov, Max Beckmann, Max Weber, Utrillo, Hayter, Milton Avery, Frederick Carl Frieseke, Jacques Lipchitz, Marino Marini and a small group of pre-Columbian objects. The Heller Foundation gave the bulk of his collection to the Tucson Museum of Art and the National Gallery in D.C. received five drypoints by Max Beckman. |
