Lawyer by trade, Hugo Perls was an art dealer, collector, historian and philosopher who operated galleries in Berlin, Paris and New York. Perls commissioned Mies van der Rohe to build a house in 1910 (Zehlendorf, Berlin), and owned African sculptures and work by, among others, Max Pechtein and Edvard Munch. Hugo was married three times; first to Kathe Kolker (d. 1945), then Eugenia Soderberg (d. 1973), and finally to Monica Schall. |
