Together with her husband, a retired president of Microsoft (1983–1990), Jon Shirley, she formed an art collection 20th-century American art. The Shirley collection includes work by, among others, Franz Kline, Joan Mitchell, Alexander Calder, Alberto Giacometti, Constantin Brancusi, Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Chuck Close. She and her husband, Jon (1938–), were major supporters of the Seattle Art Museum as well as backers of Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park. |
