Henry Suydam Wilson was a businessman (New York and Chicago Stock Exchange) and art collector. The Wilson Collection included work by, among others, Rudolph Epp, Felix Zeim, Emile Beranger, Jean Baptiste Edouard Détaille, Adolf Schreyer, Jean Baptiste Robie, Ignacio de León Escosura, and Alberto Pasini. Wilson’s daughter, Alice Lewis Burdette Wilson Thorne (1861-1925), sold works of art she had inherited from her father at two separate auctions via the American Art Association in 1917 (January 16 and 24). |
