Born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, James T. Dyke attended Culver Military Academy and received an undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a law degree from Yale. He was Chairman of Dyke Industries, Co-Founder, President, and Chairman of the Board of Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, and an advisory board member of the National Gallery of Art. He donated his collection of 133 drawings and watercolors by French neoimpressionist Paul Signac, which was exhibited the Naples Museum of Art, Naples, Fla., Dec. 21, 2007-March 25, 2008, to the Arkansas Arts Center, now the Arkansas Museum of Fine Art, in Little Rock. Dyke also played a pivotal role in the purchase of a controversial bronze sculpture that graces downtown Little Rock's intersection of Main Street and Capitol Avenue: Henry Moore’s "Standing Figure: Knife Edge." |
