Galka Emmy Scheyer was born in Germany in 1889, in 1924 Scheyer moved to New York and became the American representative of the Blue Four (Lyonel Feininger, Alexei Jawlensky, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee). The following year she moved to to California, becoming the European representative for the Oakland Museum. She lectured widely and arranged exhibitions of the Blue Four. Her collection of paintings is housed at the Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena, California. |
