Samuel Bradford Fales was in the importing and commission business (Fales and Williams), an art collector and connoisseur. He collected engravings, paintings, water colors, bronzes, and articles of vertu. Fales served as the Director of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and was the founder and treasurer of the Union Volunteer Refreshment Saloon. The Fales collection sold in an auction on November 9, 1881, via the American Art Association. |
