The Lewyt collection included work by, among others, Paul Cézanne, Édouard Vuillard, Berthe Morisot, Paul Gauguin, Edgar Degas, Pierre Bonnard, Gustave Loiseau, Alfred Sisley, Amedeo Modigliani, Nicola de Staël, and Camille Pissarro.

Mrs. Lewyt left the bulk of her and her husband’s fortune to the Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Wholly Charitable Trust carry out the couple’s philanthropy in perpetuity. The North Shore Animal League was one of their cherished organizations that they supported.
