Rrichard Codman's nephew and private collector. He lent work to the Boston Athenaeum and added more than forty pictures to the collection he inherited from his father (John Codman). He married Anne McMaster of Nova Scotia in 1825, settled in France, he returned to Boston after her death in, 1831. Codman collection included work by Demarne and Poelenburgh, Jacob van Ruisdael, and Willem Claesz. |
