history |
Wilhelm Heinrich Funk was a portrait painter and collector. Funk lent a painting attributed to Jan Cornelisz Verspronck’s, Portrait of a Man, to the Hudson-Fulton Celebration, 1909. This painting is now held at The Metropolitan Art Museum in New York City and has been given to Johannes Verspronck (Dutch, Haarlem, born ca. 1601–3, died 1662 Haarlem). According to a 1920 article in American Art News (vol. 18, No. 23, March 27, 1920, page 1, col. 1) Funk’s property sunk while in transit to Germany. |
