Charles Lawrence Hutchinson was an art collector, merchant, banker, University of Chicago trustee, and a founder and president (1882–1924) of the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts (later Art Institute). Hutchinson lent artwork to Hudson-Fulton Celebration; Frans Hals "Willem Van Heythuysen." He lent Frans Hals "Portrait of a Man" in 1905 to Art Institute of Chicago's exhibition. Hutchinson owned works by, or attributed to, among others Caspar Netscher, David Teniers the Younger, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Nicolaes Maes, and Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. |
