Collector, patron, author, artist, curator and editor of Art in America magazine (1940 to 1970). According to Jean's New York Times obituary, she and Her Husband, Howard, collected 20th century sculpture and folk art. They were friendly with Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson and David Smith. Calder, Jasper Johns, John Chamberlain, Robert Indiana and Robert Smithson. Mrs. Lipman earned a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College and a master's degree in fine arts from New York University. |
