Buyer NotesOn April 3, 1611, Wouter van Lennip (he signs Lennep), wijnverlater, 23 years of age, living on the Warmoesstraet, was betrothed to Agneetien Barents, 21, assisted by her sister Jannetje Jans (DTB 415/68). In 1641, Wouter van Lennep, wine dealer, put up a number of paintings as collateral for a debt (see INVNO 214). The present lot was not among those paintings. The daughter of Wouter van Lennip, named Geertruyt, was 16 years old and living on the O.Z. Achterburchwal, when, on 16 November 1630, she was betrothed to Henri Tivaert, from Amsterdam, 29 years old, assisted by Jean Tivaert de oude, suijckerbacker (DTB 436/209). On 27 June 1637, Herri Tyvaert, sugar refiner, 36, and Grietge Pieters, widow of Harmen Harmensz., declared at the request of Agnietge Barents, wife of Wouter van Lennep. and of Grietge Barents, wife of Jacob Martensz., that they had well known Elsge Jans, wife of Pieter Hendricksz. She was the aunt of the petitioners on their father's side (NA 598, fol. 253, Not. Lamberti). It is not clear whether Jacob Martens was the painter who, in 1606, had been married to Susanna van de Velde (see the NOTES to R 30502). On Henri and Jan Tivaert, see R 20955. It is a curious coincidence that there was a painter named Wouter de Lennep who died before 27 October 1626 when his wife Tryntgen Huybrechts brought 1200 f. for the children's inheritance to the Orphan Chamber (WK 5073/789).
