Buyer | Dirck Pietersz. in te Bontepaert
Buyer Family | Bontepaert, Dirck Pietersz. (Wittepaert, Bontepaert)
Buyer Notes | The buyer, Dirck Pietersz. (int) Bontepaert, was the painter, born in Amsterdam in 1578 and active in the city from 1607 (when he bought drawings at the auction of Gillis van Coninxloo). He may be identical with Mr. Dirck Pietersz., living on the Cingel, who paid a tax of 50 f. in 1631 (Kohier fol. 14vo, p.5). His genealogy can be traced from the following declaration. On or about 26 June 1636, Dirck Pietersz. Wittepaert, as husband and guardian of Truijtje Pieters, the daughter left by Pieter Pietersz. (I of R 31777), and Pieter de Riemer, as the child of Lyntge Pieters, all descendant children (voorsate kinderen) of Pieter Aertsz., alias Oude Lange Pier, declared that Pieter Dircksz. de Lange, who was a son of Dirck Pietersz., also a son of Pieter Aertsz., had long been abroad. It was not known whether he was dead or alive. His share in the inheritance (from Pieter Aertsen ?) was in jeopardy (NA 597, fol. 205, Not. Lamberti). Dirck Pietersz. married Truijtje Pieters in July 1603. Dirck Pietersz. de Lange is most probably identical with Dirck Pietersz. Santvoort, who was portrayed by Dirck Barendsz. in 1586 as a shooter in the company of Egbert Vinck (Oud Holland 15(1897), p.135). He was the father of Abraham Dircksz. Santvoort, painter in Breda, of Dirck Dircksz. Santvoort, painter in Amsterdam (1610-1680), of Pieter Dircksz. Bontepaert/Santvoort, painter in Amsterdam (of R 23103), and of Pieternella Santvoort, who married Aert Dircxsz., wine dealer in Amsterdam, in 1655 (with thanks to S. Middelhoek for information on the Bontepaert/Santvoort family).
