BuyerIJsack van Erckele in de Roode Hant tegen d'oude Appel Marckt
Buyer FamilyErckel(e) (Arckel), IJsack (Isaack) van
Buyer NotesOn 22 November 1608, IJsack van Erckel, from Wezel, 30 years old, living on the Kalckstraet, assisted by his uncles Willem and Jan Goijer, was betrothed to Cornelia van Es (DTB 762a/266). On 7 November 1610, Isaak van Erckel and Kornelia van Es had their son Joannes baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Willem Dircx (DTB 39/233). On 15 October 1615, the same couple had their daughter Cornelia baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Pieter Liefkint (DTB 39/474). In 1615, Isaack van Erckel had an account of 2 folios at the Wisselbank (3 in 1620) with his brother Godefryt van Erckel of R 31898 (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 182.) Simon Hendricksz. Verwer Jonckheijn, who lived in de Rode Handt on N.Z. Wester Voorburgwal, and died in 1592, was married to Ael Elberts Goyer. The house was inherited by his son Elbert Simonsz. Jonckheijn (of INVNO 572) who died in 1618 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 55). IJsack Erckel may later have inherited de Rode Handt via Ael Elberts Goyer (his aunt ?). On 1 February 1650, Paulus van Besel, Johannes Verga, and Adolff Westhoven (Westhoff), merchants, declared that Henrick Bruyningh Wildelant had received 72 bolts of cloth from Isaack van Erckel, which had been steered to the Bank van Lening. The linens that had come from Isaack van Erckel were sold to Samuel Sautijn and were received by Eduard Very (NA 1818, film 2083, Not. Eggericx). Samuel Sautijn, of South Netherlandish origin, was born in 1593 and died in 1672; he became a citizen of Amsterdam on 22 May 1640 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 575). On 14 April 1661, Samuel Sautijn and the well-known international merchant Laurens de Geer submitted to arbitration a dispute concerning an ownership share in a gun powder mill (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.G.P. 144(1974), p.688). The transacton described above may have had to do with Van Erckel's forthcoming insolvency. On 17 February 1650, Paulus van Beselen, Johannes Verga, Jan Meulemans, Michiel Tielens, and Adollf Westhoven (or Westhoff), all creditors of Isaack van Erckel, named Cornelis van Rossen to collect money due to them in Utrecht (NA 1818, loc. cit.) On 10 December 1650, the insolvent inventory of Isaack van Erckel was taken. The inventory was poor and contained no works of art (DBK 5072/355, fol. 83-4). Isaack van Erckel was the brother of Govert (or Godefroy) van Erckel (or Arckel) of R 31898, who had a joint account with him at the Wisselbank.
