Buyer | Paulus Fockenburgh |
Buyer Family | Fockenburgh, Paulus (van) (II) | Buyer Notes | The buyer was Paulus van Fockenburgh, formerly called de jonge, whose father Paulus van Fockenburgh de oude was buried on 22 May 1636 (DTB 1090/53vo.) The purchaser of a lot in 1629 (R 23761) named Paulus Fockenburgh may be the father or the son. On 1 February 1629, Pauwels van Fockenbroeck de jonge, from Antwerp, bookkeeper, 31, assisted by his father Pauwels van Fockenbroeck de oude, living in the O.Z. Achterburchwal, was betrothed to Catharina Sweers, 21, assisted by her guardian Willem Sweers (DTB 433/403). Catharina Sweer(t)s was the mother of the poet Willem Godschalk van Focquenbroch, the cousin of Philippus van den Heeden (II), the oldest son of Adriaen van der Heeden, baptized on 21 September 1623 in Amsterdam. Philippus's grandmother on his father's side was Tanneken Sweerts, married to Philips van der Heede I. Tanneken was most probably the sister of Willem Lenaerts Sweerts. On 10 April 1618, Adriaen van der Heede, 25, living in the Warmoesstraet, assisted by his father Philips van der Heede (I) and his mother Tanneken Sweers, was betrothed to Styntje Gerrits Westerhout (Oud Holland 2(1885), p. 34). Willem Godschalk van Focquenbroch spent some time in the 1660s on the Gold Coast of Africa where he was second in command (as fiscall after the generaal of the W.I.C.) A good deal about him is related in Franz Binder and Norbert Schneelock's Dirck Dircksz. Wilre en Willem Godschalk van Focquenbroch (?) Bulletin van het Rijksmuseum 27,1(1971), On Willem Sweers, see R 30037. Hendrick Coymans, merchant, and his bookkeeper Paulus van Fockenburch (II) declared at the request of Pieter Cruypenningh that the petitioner (Cruypenningh) had passed an obligation for 4,000 f. in the name of Marcus van Valckenburg (of INVNO 1238), but this had been done only pro forma, as the money had to be paid to the petitioner and to Lucas van Valckenburgh (of R 36238) (NA 596, fol. 442, Not. Lamberti). On Pieter Cruypenningh, see the TEXT of R 941 of INVNO 1040. On 13 March 1637, Paulus van Fockenburgh (II) assisted his brother-in-law Johannes Sweers, 22, when the latter was betrothed to Abigael Ardes, from The Hague, 21 (DTB 446/37). Johannes Sweers was the brother of Catharina Sweers. On (?) June 1637, Philips Sweers, 37, merchant, and Abraham Sweers, 25, brothers, for themselves and replacing Antoni Sweers, 19, baker's apprentice, also their brother, 19 (?), the orphan children of Willem Sweers, silkweaver, and of Anna van Heuvel made a deposition. Adriaen van der Heede and Paulus van Fockenburgh (de jonge) were said to be the guardians of the orphans (NA 138, film 1174, document damaged by fire, only partly legible). On 20 August 1649, the inventory of Paulus van Fockenburgh (II), insolvent, was drawn up by the Desolate Boedelskamer. Willem Sweerts (Paulus's brother-in-law) constituted himself surety for the inventory (DBK 5072/355). |
